Tingdong Zhu Obituary (1937 - 2024) - Franklin Township, New Jersey

Tingdong Zhu passed away at the age of 86 on February 28, 2024 in Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ. Tingdong was born to Weiqing Zhu and Xiaomei Jiang on May 12, 1937 in a suburb of Shanghai, China. His childhood and youth were marked by the Second Sino-Japanese War (which became part of World War II) and the Chinese Civil War. In the 1990’s he and his wife immigrated to North America to join their children. He strived to adapt to the new life, learning a new language and embracing new cultures. He loved being with his children and grandchildren and enjoying family life. He had a talent for carpentering and calligraphy. He also loved gardening, baking and making Chinese steamed buns. Tingdong was a diligent hard worker who loved to read. More than twenty years ago he was diagnosed with lung fibrosis. But his perseverance and resilience enabled him to brave the storms in his life, and see more of the world. Tingdong is survived by his wife Yumei and three children, Jing, Bin, and Min, and grandchildren Max, Cuddy, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Sheryl, Zoe, and Vincent. As a husband, father, and grandfather, his character, and his encouragement and support to his children and grandchildren will be warmly remembered. And he will be missed dearly. A funeral service will take place at Aftercare Cremation Service, 241 Bordentown Avenue, South Amboy, NJ 08879, on March 2, 2024, from 11 to 1PM. 我们的父亲朱廷栋先生不幸于2024年2月28日在新泽西新布朗士威克市RWJ医院离世。 父亲于1937年5月12 日出生于中国上海郊区，在动荡不安的抗日战争和国共内战时期度过了童年和少年时代。新中国成立后，他就读于苏州建筑工程学校（现苏州科技大学），成为一名土木工程师。毕业后他被分配到湖南，兢兢业业地为新中国的建设添砖加瓦， 数十年如一日，直至在湖南省第四建筑工程公司退休。 九十年代中父亲和母亲移民到北美与我们姐弟团聚。 他努力适应新的生活，学习新语言，拥抱新文化和环境。 他喜欢与孩子们在一起，享受含饴弄孙、天伦之乐。他喜爱书法木工手艺，颇具天赋，他还喜爱园艺养花弄草、烘焙和制作各种中西面食糕点。心灵手巧的父亲总是让生活充满温馨和乐趣。父亲是我们敬重的楷模，大家庭的骄傲。 父亲是一个勤奋刻苦，热爱读书，正直善良的人。二十多年前，他就被诊断出患有纤维肺疾病，但他的勇敢、坚韧和乐观让他能够历经风雨，见识和拥抱广阔世界。作为丈夫、父亲、爷爷、外公，他的品格和模范以及他对孩子们的鼓励、关爱和支持被我们铭记和深爱。我们将深深地怀念他。 父亲的家庭葬礼定于三月二日十一点到一点在Aftercare Cremation Service 举行。 子：朱珉 媳：冯华 携孙 朱思亮、朱思迪 女：朱璟 婿：陈松 携外孙 陈泽雷 外孙女 陈泽霓、陈泽雯 女：朱玢 婿：管鹏飞 携外孙女 管诗农 外孙 管亦农 哀告
