Michael J. Fitzpatrick, Jr. Obituary (1938 - 2023) - Middletown Township, New Jersey

Michael Joseph Fitzpatrick Jr., 85, of Belford, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 24, 2023. Born and raised in Newark NJ, Michael served in the U.S. Army National Guard and was a member of the Roofers and Waterproofers Union Local #4. In 1964, he joined the Newark Fire Department and retired as a Captain after 26 years of service. Surviving Mike are his son and daughter-in-law, Michael III and Sheri Fitzpatrick; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ellen and Chris Byrne; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Dorothy; his life partner, Virginia Jacko; and his 4 grandchildren, Melissa, Ryan, Maureen and Emily Michael took great pleasure in spending time with his family. An avid sailor and boater, Michael enjoyed annual schooner trips along the New England coast. He was also fond of fishing, carpentry and tinkering around his home. In his later years, Michael took much pride in his lawn and was known to be a frequent ShopRite shopper. A funeral liturgy will be offered Saturday, December 30, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church. 110 Bray Avenue, North Middletown, NJ.
